Well, I used to fear transhumanism, until I took a good look at our nature, and realized we are already a nasty piece of work. Of course, whatever species we evolve into might be worse than us, but any improvement might require genetic or neurological tweaking. I do not know where I stand on the issue. From an evolutionary perspective our species might be going through adolescence. I wander how much we, as humans, can change for the better before evolving into something else.
I agree, watching Goldman Sachs before the Senate Committee remained me of the Nuremberg Trials. Those roaches show no remorse, no inner doubt, and no internal conflict of any kind. I believe such inner evil fortitude is symptomatic of humanity at large. The silver back gorillas will not deviate from their destructive goals, I sometimes wander if they even have self awareness, or if they live in some trancelike world of deluded grandiosity.

That's a truly interesting point. Is it the case that the common ground between communism and capitalism is that some human beings are power-hungry shits. and for some reason these people always rise to the top of the greasy political pole?

In 'real life' there are so many people who are kind, generous and altruistic; and so many communities where people help each other. But when you watch the Goldman Sachs executives before the Senate Committee - they just don't 'get it', which means they don't get that rampant greed is wrong. They just love being top dogs.

I hope there's a solution to all this that will one day be found, that doesn't involve being transhuman....

I often wander if our political and economic systems contain the seeds for their own destruction. I mean, I remember in school when communist apologist argued that Stalinist Russia was not true communism, but a nasty perversion of it. The professor dissuaded them by stating that a communist system, despite all its good intentions, will always evolve into a perverted version of itself. It is human nature; communism inevitably evolves into something else. Here in America some are arguing that our current system is not true capitalism, but a perversion of it. But maybe our system is the inevitable end of capitalism. Our system is what capitalism will inevitably evolve into, because of human nature. So maybe we are our own enemies, can we hope transhumanism will bring something better?
